Chetan Sharma, the Chairman of Selectors of the All India Senior Selection Committee, announced India’s squads for New Zealand and Bangladesh tours in a virtual press conference on Monday.
India will play a three-match T20I and ODI series in New Zealand, starting November 18, which is just two days after the end of the T20 World Cup. Senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have been rested for the series, with Hardik Pandya tasked with the duty of leading the side in the T20Is. Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed as the captain in ODIs, whereas Rishabh Pant has been named as the vice-captain for both the series.
Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson are some other names who will be seen playing in these two legs. Rohit Sharma will assume his usual leadership duties in Bangladesh alongside his deputy KL Rahul.
Rajat Patidar and Rahul Tripathi have also been rewarded with berths in the ODI side after their superb performance in the white-ball series between India A and New Zealand A. The tour of Bangladesh is going to start with the ODIs from December 4 and will end with the second Test on December 22.
