India’s T20I captain Shreyas Iyer hinted that the team could make some changes to the playing XI in the third T20I against Afghanistan. Iyer’s team were able to seal the series after taking an impregnable lead of 2-0. Team India won the second game by seven wickets after chasing down 160 runs with 31 balls to spare.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has been in red-hot form, can get a game on Thursday after the youngster was ignored in the first two matches. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma had opened the innings in the first two matches.

India made a change in the second T20I after Varun Chakravarthy was ruled out with a side strain and thus Ravi Bishnoi got his chance. Furthermore, Washington Sundar and Yash Thakur haven’t got their chances in the first two games.

“Definitely, we want all of them to get used to the wicket and get some practice, so it will be a good opportunity to give a chance to the guys sitting out,” Iyer said in the post-match presentation.

Under Iyer’s captaincy, India suffered six losses on the trot on the tour of UK, including two against Ireland. 

“Yes, certainly. It was a tough pill to swallow at the start, but the journey is always going to be a rollercoaster,” Iyer said.

The Indian skipper said it is imperative to maintain the balance and not think too much about the previous losses.

“You have to be in equilibrium as much as possible and see to it that you enjoy the moment and not think much about what has happened in the past. I have said it in my previous interviews as well; the more you embrace the situation, the better it gets,” he added.

The third and final T20I between Afghanistan and India will be played at Delhi on Thursday.
