New Zealand’s former captain Brendon McCullum has rated the pace battery of the Indian team as the best to travel to all conditions in the recent past.
India’s bowling unit has taken giant strides in recent times and they have also delivered the goods in overseas conditions.
Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma have been right on the money and they have been consistent.
Furthermore, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur and T Natarajan have also grabbed their opportunities whenever they have played.
Moreover, India have two of best spinners in the world in Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who are known to run through the sides in the home conditions. Ashwin and Jadeja have also improved their performances in the foreign conditions.
“I can only really talk about the time I was around the international game. India have had the likes of Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath but I think in the last 20 years would have to be close to their best seam-bowling line-up.
And then spinners Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin as well. I think it’s probably the most-rounded bowling line-up and is probably the best bowling line-up to probably travel to all conditions,” McCullum told Sports Today.
The Indian team has savoured success in the overseas conditions and a lot of credit goes to their bowling unit for the same.
The bowling department has improved tremendously and it has played a key role in the team’s success. India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun has also done a fine job in getting the best out of the bowlers.
Consequently, India’s experienced bowling unit will once again play a crucial role in the upcoming World Test Championship final against New Zealand, which will be played at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton from June 18.
After the WTC final, the Indian team will play a five-match Test series against England. The first Test match will begin from August 4.
