India will lock horns against Afghanistan in the second ODI at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Wednesday. The home team was able to draw first blood, winning the opening ODI by seven wickets after it was pruned to 25 overs/innings due to rain.
Shubman Gill and debutants – Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey – were the stars of the show in the opening clash. While Gill scored an impressive knock of 84 runs in the run chase of 195, Brar and Dubey scalped three wickets apiece to skittle out the visitors at 194.
Brar was impressive with the new ball as bowled consistently around 145 kmph and also extracted extra bounce from the surface.
Prince Yadav, who has the experience of playing at Lucknow for LSG in the IPL, could replace Prasidh Krishna, who has been playing continuously. India will also want big runs from Rohit Sharma, who was dismissed cheaply after scoring 16 runs in the series opener.
On the other hand, Afghanistan would want a more collective effort with the bat as Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the lone warrior in the previous game. Gurbaz scored 102 runs off just 51 balls but he could not get the support from the other end.
