After taking an impregnable lead of 2-0 in the series, India will face Afghanistan in the third ODI at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Saturday. With the series already in the bag, India could make some changes to their playing XI and it could provide opportunities to other players.
Nitish Kumar Reddy had missed the second ODI due to a sore thigh and the team management would not want to take any risk with him. Furthermore, Indian skipper Shubman Gill didn’t turn up on to the field after suffering from cramps, following his mammoth knock of 154 runs in Lucknow’s heat.
Ishan Kishan was also brilliant for the Men in Blue as the left-hander smashed 125 runs off just 79 deliveries to continue his purple patch.
Moreover, Gurnoor Brar continued to impress as the lanky pacer bagged three more wickets in the second game. Arshdeep Singh would have also grown in confidence after taking three wickets in the previous game.
On the other hand, Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi admitted they were not good enough with the ball after conceding a mammoth total of 402 runs on the board. Thus, Shahidi will want his bowlers to pull up their socks against the potent Indian team.
