India and New Zealand will kick off their 2026 with a three-match ODI series, starting Sunday at Vadodara. The Kiwis have always punched above their weight and would look to deliver their best in the upcoming ODI series. Michael Bracewell will lead the tourists but there is a lot of inexperience in the side, which would provide an opportunity to the youngsters to grab their chances.
The hosts would also look to come up with a collective effort. The focus in the ODIs has been on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and the veteran pair has been in terrific form. The duo recently played match-winning knocks for their respective states in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy and would look to carry their rich form against the Blackcaps.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer have returned to the ODI squad after missing the series against South Africa due to injuries. While Gill suffered a neck injury during the Kolkata Test, Iyer has proven his match fitness in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after suffering a serious spleen injury.
Furthermore, Mohammed Siraj has also made a comeback into the ODI squad and the fast bowler would look to hit the ground running.
Rishabh Pant, the backup wicket-keeper, will join the squad late in Vadodara as he would play the last league stage match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Delhi in Bengaluru but he would be available for selection.
