Ahead of the Indian Premier League scheduled to begin September 19, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has said that he is ready to new trick with the ball.
This is following the team’s preparation for the Indian T20 premier event slated for the United Arab Emirates. The BCCI had to move it to the country as the COVID-19 infection continues to be on the rise alarmingly in India.
Yadav, who is unfazed by the pressure of expectations after failing to live up to expectation in the last edition of the IPL, said he has worked on a few deliveries, especially for the T20 format.
Statistics showed that the IPL 2019 was the spinner’s worst IPL season. Yadav was only able to pick just four wickets in nine games. Because his performance was at a poor economy rate of 8.66, KKR dropped him for the competition’s business end.
KKR also filed to make it to the playoff, leading to their ouster after finishing fifth. That was the first time the team failed to make it to the playoffs since 2015.
Yadav, an Indian international, was in action for his country in a T20 game in January against Sri Lanka and another ODI clash against New Zealand in Hamilton on February 5. Since then, India is yet to play as the COVID-19 pandemic brought things to a halt.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with TOI from the team’s base in Abu Dhabi, the 25-year-old bowler from Uttar Pradesh said his performance would be there for all to judge.
He further stated that he is sure of the UAE’s success due to the helpful conditions and seamless acclimatization. According to him, these are conditions that suit him as it is very hot in the UAE.
Therefore, he is looking forward to taking many wickets of batsmen in the tournament that will hold in three UAE cities: Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi.
