Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant has said that if you give confidence to a player like Prithvi Shaw, he can do wonders.
Shaw was at his absolute best against Kolkata Knight Riders as he smashed 82 runs from 41 balls as he batted at the top of his game.
Shaw was able to hit the ground running as he smashed six fours in the opening over of Shivam Mavi.
Shaw has all the talent under his belt and he has shown the skills to go a long way in his career. The right-hander timed the ball to perfection against KKR and played a key role in taking his team to a convincing win of seven wickets. Shaw’s knock helped DC in winning the match with 21 balls to spare as the right-hander batted at his sublime best.
Rishabh Pant revealed that he told Prithvi Shaw to play his natural game and enjoy his cricket to get the best out of the youngster.
“Prithvi Shaw is a talented player, we all know that. But if you give him the confidence he can do wonders. Was only telling him to play the normal game. In this kind of match, we can afford to think of a run rate. The only thing we talk about with youngsters is to just enjoy cricket, do your best,” Pant told host broadcaster Star Sports at the post-match presentation.
On the other hand, Pant added he is enjoying his captaincy. Pant has produced the results for Delhi Capitals as they have won five matches out of the seven matches they have played.
Meanwhile, Pant added that Lalit Yadav will also learn with experience. Yadav delivered the goods for the team with the ball as he scalped two wickets of Eoin Morgan and Sunil Narine.
Pant added, “Lalit is an allrounder. Hasn’t got a chance to bat but he’ll learn. Last match we only lost by one run, so as a team we talk about we don’t have to change anything. Definitely enjoying captaincy”.
DC will next face PBKS at the same venue on 2nd of May.
