Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has made a great start to his IPL 2021 campaign as he has scored 176 runs in the three matches at an impressive average of 58.66 and a blistering strike rate of 149.55, with the help of two fifties and he is currently the second highest run-getter of the tournament.
Maxwell has returned with scores of 39 vs MI, 59 vs SRH and 78 vs KKR and has played an instrumental role in the success of the team. The Australian has been backed to bat at number four by the team management and he has grabbed his opportunity with both hands.
In fact, Maxwell could only score 108 runs for Punjab Kings in the previous season and he was under a bit of pressure but he has been able to turn the tables for RCB. Maxwell stated that he has felt at home at RCB since his first day and he has received support from the team management as well as the players.
“The conditions are a bit different here at the Wankhede. There have been some high scores scored here, so for our batting group, it is going to be exciting if we can get going and continue to add to those high totals. I felt like I have been right at home since day one, the coaching staff have been extremely supportive so have the players, it has been great fun so far,” said Maxwell.
On the other hand, Maxwell revealed that he tries to take the pressure of Kohli’s shoulders in the field and help the RCB skipper in setting up the field.
“It is just about taking one of the responsibilities of Virat’s shoulders. He has got a lot of things to do out there, to sort of control what fielders need to be at what positions is one thing he does not have to worry about,” Maxwell added.
Maxwell has the skills to turn the match on its head and he will look to continue the good show. RCB have got off to a great start as they have won all their three matches. The Virat Kohli-led team will aim to continue their good form against Rajasthan Royals.
