Mumbai Indians fast bowler Trent Boult feels his bowling partner Jasprit Bumrah makes his job a lot easier. The duo was once again at their lethal best against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Saturday. Trent Boult returned with figures of 3.4-0-28-3 whereas Jasprit Bumrah conceded only 14 runs in his quota of four overs and also took a wicket.
It was the fourth time in Bumrah’s IPL career when he didn’t even concede a boundary in his allotted four overs. Both the MI fast bowlers have been doing a fine job in the powerplay as well as the death overs. In fact, Boult was taken for 18 runs in his second over by Jonny Bairstow but he made a roaring comeback in his second spell.
SRH required less than eight runs/over at one stage but Bumrah and Boult made it difficult for them to chase 151 runs and took their team to victory by 13 runs.
Boult said at the virtual press conference, “It’s great to see a guy (Bumrah) like that operate. How clear he is with what he is doing with the ball throughout his whole spell. But at the death, I personally believe, he is one of the best death bowlers in the world. He makes my job a heck of a lot easier. It is always nice being on the right side of those situations. Hopefully, we can get a bit of momentum into this tournament”.
The Orange Army required 31 runs off the last four overs with five wickets remaining but they had their task cut out as Boult and Bumrah didn’t give any scoring opportunities and kept SRH batsmen on the leash. Bumrah took the crucial wicket of Vijay Shankar whereas Boult dismissed Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Khaleel Ahmed.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians have stolen two wins from the jaws of defeat as they were behind the eighth-ball against Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad and the credit goes to their potent bowling line. Boult has scalped six wickets whereas Bumrah has snared three wickets.
Furthermore, Rahul Chahar has impressed with his bowling in the middle overs and the leg-spinner is currently the joint highest wicket-taker with seven scalps.
MI will play their next match against Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 20th April.
