The reigning champions Mumbai Indians will begin their IPL 2021 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chennai on April 9, in what will be the curtain-raiser of the 14th edition of the tournament. The Rohit Sharma-led team will play three-afternoon games against Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Rajasthan Royals, which will begin from 3:30 PM IST.
The five-time champions will play their last league stage match against the previous season runners-up Delhi Capitals on 23rd May. Mumbai will play five matches in Chennai, four in Delhi, three in Bangalore, and two in Kolkata. In this season, no team will have the home advantage as the matches will be played in six cities.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians will be chasing their sixth IPL title in the upcoming season. Mumbai has a potent squad and they have ticked the right boxes as they mostly come with collective efforts.
In IPL 2021 auctions, the defending champions had roped in players like Piyush Chawla, Nathan Coulter-Nile, James Neesham, Arjun Tendulkar, Marco Jansen, and Adam Milne.
Mumbai has been the most consistent team in the IPL and their skipper Rohit Sharma has played a key role in their success. Players like Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Jasprit Bumrah have come through the ranks for the franchise. Moreover, they have foreign players like Kieron Pollard, Quinton de Kock, and Trent Boult, who have consistently performed for them.
