Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Sam Curran believes the team’s whole middle order can bat anywhere, which gives them the freedom to play their natural game. CSK, who didn’t have a great start to their IPL 2021 campaign after losing the opening clash against Delhi Capitals, have been at their best in the previous two matches.
The MS Dhoni-led team registered their second win of the season as they thrashed Rajasthan Royals by 45 runs on Monday. Batting first, CSK posted a par score of 188 runs and then the bowlers did a fine job in restricting the opposition to 143-9.
Sam Curran, who was a big positive for the franchise in the previous season despite their barren run, was at his best against RR on Monday. Curran provided two early breakthroughs, including the big wicket of RR skipper Sanju Samson. The English all-rounder returned with impressive figures of 2-24 in his four overs.
On the other hand, Curran believes his team couldn’t adjust to the conditions in the first match against Delhi Capitals but they have acclimatized in their last two matches against PBKS and RR.
Curran said in the post-match presentation, “We started off badly against Delhi, we didn’t adjust to the conditions. But the last two games we’ve adjusted. The way we’ve played with our long batting line-up, it’s given that freedom.”
“I’ve actually never played for Chennai in Chennai, but from the chat in the group, the wicket’s been slow and suited us. Our whole middle order can bat anywhere, that gives you some freedom.”
Meanwhile, Sam Curran also played a little cameo of 6-ball 13 to help his team post a par score of 188 runs.
Curran also had a successful IPL 2020 for Chennai Super Kings. The left-hander scored 186 runs in 11 innings at an average of 23.25 and a strike rate of 131.91. Curran got the chance to learn from MS Dhoni and he was able to make the most of it. In fact, the all-rounder recently admitted that he became a better player after plying his trade in the IPL.
CSK will play their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 21st April.
