Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson wants to take the franchise to their second Indian Premier League title in the upcoming season of the tournament, which will resume in the UAE from September 19.
Royals won three matches out of the seven they played in the first phase of the tournament and are placed at fifth place in the points table.
With players like Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Jofra Archer missing the second phase of the IPL, Rajasthan Royals will have their work cut out.
The franchise has signed players like Evin Lewis, Oshane Thomas, and Tabraiz Shamsi and they will look to make their contribution to the team.
Samson will want a collective effort of the team and stated that the focus will be to take one game at a time.
In a video uploaded by Rajasthan Royals on their social media handles, Samson said: “The goal is definitely to win the championship. But we focus on our process, we focus on our preparation and we take one match at a time. We give everything.”
“(It) doesn’t matter if we end up again at No.8 position but I want everyone to go full out. No matter who the opposition is, I want to see that attitude in your eyes and in your body language.
We are going for the kill. We die or we win, its as simple as that. No one is staying in the middle. So, I want that commitment from each and everyone of you. Let’s do it,” he added.
Meanwhile, in the absence of key batsmen like Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes, a lot will depend on Sanju Samson. The RR skipper had scored 277 runs in the first phase of the IPL at an impressive average of 46.16 and he will look to lead from the front.
On the other hand, Samson could not grab his opportunity in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. A lot of cricket experts reckon that Samson needs to be more consistent with the bat to make a case for himself in the Indian team.
The flamboyant batsman from Kerala has played some breathtaking knocks in the IPL but hasn’t been able to consistently deliver for the team.
Rajasthan Royals will resume their IPL campaign against Punjab Kings on 21st September at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
