Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson said that the team still has the energy in order to turn the tables in the second leg of IPL 2021.
The Orange Army had a horrid run in the first phase of the tournament as they could only manage a solitary win out of the seven matches they played and they are placed at the bottom of the points table.
Thus, they will need to come up with a much better performance in the UAE leg to keep their playoff hopes alive. As always, SRH’s middle order had failed to deliver the goods in the first phase of the IPL as the likes of Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar could not get going.
Furthermore, there was a fallout between David Warner and the team management. Warner, who is one of the best batsmen in the IPL, was removed from the captaincy duties. Moreover, Warner was also dropped from the team’s playing XI. SRH has also suffered a huge blow as Jonny Bairstow, one of their consistent performers has decided to pull out of the second phase of IPL 2021.
Williamson said on SRH’s Instagram handle, “It has been nice to have that opportunity to try and put some time in. And I guess in terms of cricket preparation, you always just working as hard and as smart as you can. All the players will be looking to adjust to these conditions and as am I.”
“It has been a tough first half of the competition, but we still have the energy in our side to get back together and we enjoy playing our cricket together. ”
There is no doubt that Sunrisers Hyderabad will have its work cut out for the second phase of the IPL 2021. The team will need to come up with a collective effort and will have to play David Warner in the playing XI.
The Kane Williamson-led team will need to win at least six of their remaining seven matches in the league stage to have a chance of qualifying for the playoff stages.
