Former Indian captain Virat Kohli reckons Dinesh Karthik has presented a very strong case for India’s comeback and also feels the wicket-keeper batter is currently the ‘Man of the IPL’. Dinesh Karthik has already revealed his ambitions of once again representing the country at the highest level and Kohli feels people are taking a note of DK’s performance.
Karthik has been in sublime form and he has upped his game as a finisher for Royal Challengers Bangalore. In six innings, the right-hander from Tamil Nadu has scored 197 runs at an average of 197 and a whirlwind strike rate of 209.57.
Karthik once again gave another fine audition for the T20 World Cup squad as he smashed an unbeaten knock of 66 runs off just 34 balls against Delhi Capitals on Saturday. In fact, RCB were in marshy waters as they were 92-4 but Karthik’s blistering knock took them to 189 runs. RCB won by 16 runs in the end and Karthik’s knock was the difference between the two teams.
Karthik has been hitting the ground running for RCB in the ongoing IPL 2022 and he has definitely reaped rewards for his preparation.
“I am here with the man of the IPL for me so far…It’s been wonderful. I won’t even say ‘long may it continue’ because it will and you’re in that space and I can see that. It was an honor to watch you bat again. Thanks for getting us across the line,” said Kohli.
Kohli added that AB de Villiers, who played the finisher role for RCB will be really proud of Dinesh Karthik while watching the action.
“I am very happy that DK is so clear in his goals. I can surely tell you that you have presented a very strong case for yourself moving forward playing T20 cricket not just for RCB but also I am sure lot of people are taking notice at the highest level as well.
“You mentioned. I think AB will be very proud watching from Pretoria, sitting at home and watching you finish games for us and take the team across the line,” he added.
Karthik will look to continue his dream run to make his case stronger for the T20 World Cup. RCB will next take on Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday at the Dr. DY Sports Patil Academy, Mumbai.
