Rajasthan Royals opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has risen through the ranks to make a name for himself. Jaiswal has had his fair share of struggles as a budding cricketer but he has always worked hard to reach where he is today. The left-hander has revealed that he tries to improve his game by at least 1% every single day.
Jaiswal hasn’t had a great start to his IPL career and he would look to turn the corner in the upcoming season. The southpaw added that he has been training hard to sharpen his skills and become a better player.
The 20-year old from Uttar Pradesh has scored 289 runs in 13 IPL matches at an average of 22.23 and a strike rate of 136.32. Jaiswal is expected to open the innings with either Devdutt Padikkal or Jos Buttler. The youngster will definitely look to pick Buttler’s brain as he is one of the best T20 batters in the world.
Jaiswal said in a video uploaded on RR’s Instagram handle, “If I don’t play cricket, I don’t know what I would do. For me, it’s important to keep playing. Wake up in the morning and go to practice and keep honing skills. I just don’t want to sit idle. We shouldn’t ever give up. Should keep on trying. If we keep on trying hard nobody can defeat us. That’s what I keep on doing. I try to improve my game at least by 1% every single day.”
Rajasthan Royals has head coach Kumar Sangakkara at the helm and Jaiswal will look to learn from the best in the business.
Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal had shot himself into fame after he finished as the highest run-getter in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup with 400 runs in six matches at an average of 133.33.
Jaiswal is still young in his career and there is no doubt he will learn more with experience. The inaugural champions will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening clash of the season on March 29 at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
