IPL 2022: RCB would definitely target Ishan Kishan in the auction – Harbhajan Singh

India’s former veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh reckons Royal Challengers Bangalore will definitely target Ishan Kishan in the upcoming auctions.

Singh feels Ishan Kishan is a captaincy material and any team which will target him in the mega auctions, might make him the leader.

Meanwhile, RCB had retained their former captain Virat Kohli, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj before the IPL auction. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan has been a consistent performer in the IPL and he is expected to bag a huge price after he was released by Mumbai Indians.

Kishan also leads Jharkhand in the domestic circuit and has leadership experience under his belt. Furthermore, Kishan had led India’s Under-19 team to the final in the World Cup of 2016 but they could not cross the final hurdle against the West Indies.

Moreover, Kishan is a dynamic batter, who has the skills to hit the ground running and play big shots from the get-go. Kishan also keeps and he has a bright future ahead of himself. The southpaw has amassed 1452 runs in 56 IPL innings at an average of 28.47 and a strike rate of 136.34.

“Ishan Kishan is someone I am a fan of. On his own capability, on any given day, he can smash 70-80 runs off 30 balls and win the match for his team. He will become a very big player in the time to come. If a player like him goes to any team, he should be given the responsibility of leadership. The way he gets older, with responsibilities he will become even bigger. He already captains Jharkhand. RCB would definitely target Ishan Kishan in the auction. It will be tough because many teams would go after him at the auction,” Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel.

On the other hand, India experienced wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik also showered praise on the 23-year old youngster for his batting skills.

“He is got tremendous skills… He can attack from ball one. That’s a skill every player doesn’t possess. In the new age, players try to attack a lot from ball one. Teams that have succeeded in doing that consistently have done very well in multi-nation tournaments. So Ishan definitely has a good chance to come into the scheme of things,” Karthik pointed out.

The IPL auction will be hosted in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.
