Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is baffled to note Pat Cummins’ exclusion from Kolkata Knight Riders’ playing XI. Singh added that the Australian Test captain is a genuine match-winner and he should be playing for the two-time champions. Cummins has been excluded from the team’s final XI as he was expensive in his bowling spells.
Singh stated that if someone has had two-three tough matches, it doesn’t mean you have to stop believing in your match-winners. Meanwhile, Pat Cummins had blasted the joint fastest fifty in the IPL history as he competed the personal milestone off just 14 balls against five-time champions Mumbai Indians earlier in the season.
However, Cummins hasn’t been at his absolute best with the ball as he has scalped four wickets in four matches and he has conceded his runs at a high economy rate of 12.
Yuvraj Singh wrote on his Twitter post, ”I’m so surprised to see @patcummins30 sit out unless he’s injured? World-class all-rounder. If someone has had 2-3 tough games does it mean u stop believing in your match winners? cause they can win you 3 in a row as well!! just my opinion #DCvKKR.”
Meanwhile, KKR lost their fifth match on the bounce as they were beaten by four wickets by Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Thursday. It was another below-par batting performance from the Shreyas Iyer-led team as they could only post 146 runs on the board after they were put in to bat by Rishabh Pant.
KKR haven’t been able to set a stable winning combination and there has been a lot of chopping and changing as they aren’t winning consistently. Ergo, they need to assess and come back stronger in their last five matches of the league stage.
In fact, KKR had got off to a decent start in the season as they had won three out of their first four matches. But they haven’t been able to continue the good show in their last five fixtures.
KKR will next face Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Monday.
