Former Australian skipper Aaron Finch has showered praise on Rilee Rossouw after the latter’s match-winning knock against Punjab Kings at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala on Wednesday. Finch said he is glad that we’re seeing the best of Rossouw in the IPL.
In fact, the South African hasn’t had a great run in the ongoing season but he was able to turn up against PBKS. The left-hander was able to hit the ground running after DC skipper David Warner was dismissed following a 94-run opening alliance with Prithvi Shaw.
The southpaw took the attack against the PBKS bowlers in the middle overs and raced to his fifty off just 25 balls. Rossouw scored six fours and as many sixes in his blistering knock to help his team post 213 runs on the board.
In fact, DC batters haven’t been able to deliver in the ongoing season but Rossouw showed his vast experience of playing in different T20 leagues across the globe. Rossouw went on to score 82 runs from 37 balls as he batted at the top of his game.
Aaron Finch said on Star Sports, “He is somebody who is a big batter to get out. He takes it on from ball one. He got into his innings so fast. Once he gets going, he is so difficult to stop because he plays all around the ground. I don’t think they (PBKS) bowled particularly well to him but you have got to give yourself the best chance to put them away and he certainly did it. He is such a class player. And I am glad that we are seeing the best of him in the IPL.”
On the other hand, Rossouw was delighted after playing a match-winning knock for his team. The South African was awarded Player of the Match for his blistering innings.
Rossouw said in the post-match presentation, “Thanks to the support staff. Chuffed that I could perform for the team. As Davey (Warner) mentioned was a good wicket. Davey put up a good partnership at the top. I enjoyed some momentum coming in.”
