Lucknow Super Giants will commence their IPL 2023 campaign against Delhi Capitals at their home ground of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on 1st April. LSG had added players like Daniel Sams, Jaydev Unadkat, Amit Mishra, Romario Shepherd, and Nicholas Pooran in IPL 2023 auction.
Despite the previous season being their first in the league, LSG was able to tick the right boxes in the league stage, winning nine out of the 14 matches and thus qualified for the playoff stages. However, their run was ended by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator.
Strengths:
LSG has a potent top-order as KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock will open the innings. Furthermore, youngsters like Ravi Bishnoi and Ayush Badoni had impressed in the previous season and they would want to carry the good show for the franchise. Fast bowlers like Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan had also done a good job for the team.
Weaknesses:
While LSG’s squad is covered from all corners, they don’t have a lot of experience in their middle order. Thus, they would hope that Nicholas Pooran, who could not get going Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last edition, delivers for them.
LSG PROBABLE PLAYING XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), KL Rahul (c), Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Mark Wood, Mohsin Khan/Jaydev Unadkat.
