Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan lauded Prabhsimran Singh after their convincing 31-run win against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Saturday. The pitch had assistance for the spinners but Singh batted at his absolute best to deliver the goods for Punjab Kings.

Dhawan said Singh played an incredible knock for his team as the right-handed batted at the top of his game. The Punjab batter was a lone warrior for his team as he scored the bulk of the runs. The PBKS skipper Dhawan also hailed the bowlers of his team after they restricted Delhi Capitals to 136-8 despite the hosts getting off to a solid start.
Shikhar Dhawan said in the post-match presentation, “The way the bowlers brought us back in the game it was amazing. All credit to our spinners and also our fast bowlers as well. It was turning from 4th over and playing that kind of knock is just incredible and amazing from Prabhsimran. That knock actually helped us reach that total.”
On the other hand, PBKS’ spinner Harpreet Brar was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors. The left-arm orthodox spinner returned with impressive figures of 4-30 in his quota of four overs and played a key role in the team’s win. Brar accounted for David Warner, Philip Salt, Manish Pandey, and Rilee Rossouw in his fine spell.
Dhawan revealed he told Brar to bowl stumps to stumps and the ploy worked wonders for him and the team. The PBKS is also happy with the youngsters’ progress in the ongoing IPL 2023.
Dhawan went on to add, “I told Harpreet to keep it slow and target the wickets and the way he stood up and took those wickets and especially getting those left-handers out was really fantastic. When I’m with the youngsters I try to stay young and feels good that the boys have taken responsibility and the maturity as well. Very happy the way they are growing and maturing. This win has brought a lot of confidence for us.”
