Punjab Kings spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi showered praise on Shikhar Dhawan after the franchise’s skipper played a gem of an innings. Joshi said Dhawan showed why he is one of the best batters in the world.
The left-hander scored an unbeaten knock of 99 runs off just 66 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Dhawan scored a dozen fours and five sixes in his fine knock for the Mohali-based franchise.
However, the veteran could not find support from the other end as PBKS could only manage 143 runs on the board. Thus, Dhawan was the lone warrior for PBKS as only two batters got to the double-digit mark. The left-hander is currently the Orange Cap holder as he has scored 225 runs in three innings of the tournament.
“I think the wicket was pretty good. I think we missed about 35 runs, 30-35 runs were shot. So I think Shikhar played a gem of innings and show that why he is the best batsman,” Sunil Joshi said in the press conference.
“I think, it is bound to happen,” Joshi on PBKS’ flurry of wickets. “I mean we are playing back-to-back games. It is one of the day, bowlers, you know, there is so much travel, practice, travel and practice. Hopefully, will come back stronger.”
On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh has been doing a good job for PBKS. Singh has taken six wickets in three innings of the tournament and he is going to hold the key for the Mohali-based franchise.
“Arshdeep has overall in last 12 months really not really remarkably done well, improved his consistency of picking wickets at the same time bowling under pressure, making batsmen make errors. I think hitting those hard lengths and consistent line makes him a more attacking bowler,” Joshi said.
Punjab Kings will lock horns against Gujarat Titans at the IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on Thursday.
