Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was delighted after their dominating 27-run win against Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Wednesday. Jadeja said that they were able to take advantage of the home conditions as the ball gripped and turned a lot in the second innings.
CSK posted a fighting score of 167 runs on the board after MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. The score proved to be enough as DC could only manage 140-8 in their 20 overs.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja scored 21 runs from 16 balls to add the finishing touches to the score. Furthermore, the left-arm orthodox spinner returned with impressive figures of 1-19 in his quota of four overs. Jadeja accounted for Rilee Rossouw, who was settled after scoring 35 runs from 37 balls.
Thus, Jadeja was awarded Player of the Match for his all-round performance while playing at Chepauk.
He said in the post-match presentation, “As a spinner, feels good when the ball is turning and holding. We practice here, we know what’s the ideal length and pace. The visiting team needs time to adapt. We are taking advantage of the home conditions. Everyone’s doing their job. We are doing a good job collectively.”
Jadeja has been batting ahead of MS Dhoni in the ongoing season. The left-hander admitted that the crowd wants him to get out so that they can watch Dhoni in action.
Jadeja said, “I keep hearing Mahi bhai’s chants. If I bat higher, then the crowd will wait for me to get out. As long as the team wins, I am happy.”
Chennai Super Kings outplayed Delhi Capitals in all three departments of the game and they were able to come up with a collective show. Furthermore, Deepak Chahar scalped two wickets whereas Matheesha Pathirana bagged three wickets for CSK in their comprehensive victory.
Chennai Super Kings will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
