Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill gave credit to the collective effort of the whole team after registering a 58 run win against Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi stadium Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Batting first, GT posted a above-par score of 217 runs on the board after Sai Sudarshan top scored with 82 runs.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals were bundled out for a paltry score of 159 runs as the visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could not get any momentum in their batting innings.
Gill showered praise on Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler, who scored 82 and 36 runs and added 80 runs for the second wicket. The GT skipper also praised the bowlers for their collective effort. Prasidh Krishna was the pick of the bowlers as the lanky pacer returned with impressive figures of 3-24 in his quota of four overs whereas Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore bagged two wickets apiece.
Shubman Gill said in the post-match presentation, “Good total on the board, it wasn’t easy in the first 3-4 overs. The way Sai and Buttler batted was amazing. We’ll take 220 any day of the week. And then our fast bowlers were very clinical to finish off the job.”
He added, “If you have difficulty in choosing the man of the match, it is a good problem for us to have. We are having a team where everyone contributes. Very pleased, when you have bowlers like Rashid it makes the captain’s job easy.”
Krishna also hailed the collective team effort and said he enjoyed bowling on the Ahmedabad pitch as it had extra bounce.
He said after the comprehensive win, “The work we put in as a team is showing. Credit goes to the whole team. We are picking wickets and it becomes easier for me. Lovely team effort. There was some extra bounce in the wicket and why not (when asked if he enjoyed tickling the ribcage), but I mixed it up by going fuller and shorter.”
Gujarat Titans will next take on Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Saturday.
