Former Indian batter Abhishek Nayar showered praise on Jasprit Bumrah for his fine performance in the second T20I against Ireland, which the visitors won by 33 runs at the Village, Dublin on Sunday. Nayar said Bumrah was 10 out of 10 in the second game of the series.
Bumrah once was right on the money with his line and length and breathed down the neck of the Irish batters. The Indian skipper returned with impressive figures of 2-15 in his quota of four overs, conceding his runs at 3.80 and also bowled a maiden over.
In fact, Bumrah could have had even better figures if he had not conceded five wides in his four-over spell. Bumrah accounted for Mark Adair and Barry McGarthy as he bowled at the top of his game.
Nayar was impressed with the way Bumrah opened the bowling innings and also his high speed in the second game.
“He opened his bowling with 140 (kmph) just tells how eager he is. Bumrah spoke in the last game about the outfield being wet, this time around, he was on point from ball one. Bowled just one over in the powerplay but then used himself very differently (12t, 17th, 20th). So, I think just in terms of his execution, he was 10 on 10. You could see his ball tailing in, you could see his ball seam in with the angle. We saw him using the off cutter and the leg cutter as well in the 2nd T20I,” Nayar said after the match on Jio Cinema.
“I think the Indian management and everyone in India will be extremely happy watching Bumrah bowl. I think somewhere the hope of winning the ODI World Cup has gone from 100 per cent to 110 per cent,” he further added.
Furthermore, Bumrah had returned with figures of 2-24 in the opening T20I against Ireland. Bumrah was delighted after he made a solid return to International cricket.
“Yes, I am very happy today. It was drier today, and hence you can come in and bowl harder… Yeah, pretty happy to be back,” Bumrah said in the post match presentation after the 2nd T20I.
The third T20I between India and Ireland will be played at the same venue, the Village, Dublin on Wednesday.
