Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan showered praise on Praful Hinge after Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a comprehensive 57-run win against Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Monday.
Hinge dismissed in-form Vaibhav Suryavanshi for a golden duck. One ball later, another in-form batter Dhruv Jurel, chopped the ball back onto his stumps. On the final delivery of his game, the 24-year-old pacer from Vidarbha also accounted for Lhuan-dre Pretorius.
Thus, Hinge became the first bowler in IPL history to take three wickets in the first over of an IPL innings. Hinge returned with impressive figures of 4-34 in his quota of four overs and was awarded Player of the Match.
Irfan Pathan said on his YouTube Channel, “When you take three wickets in a single over, chasing 200 becomes very difficult. I was listening to an interview after the match where Praful Hinge said that he had already told some of his friends that he would dismiss Vaibhav Suryavanshi with a bouncer. He bowled a short ball, got the ball to rise, and dismissed Suryavanshi. Getting Vaibhav Suryavanshi out means breaking the backbone of Rajasthan’s powerplay. This was only his second T20 match, and he still made such an impact, it shows great courage. It is what is called nerves of steel, and that is exactly what we saw from Praful Hinge.”
“And what Praful Hinge has achieved is truly commendable. Three wickets in the very first over, I know how much joy that brings. In that first over, he took three wickets, including the wicket of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. That is praiseworthy. He also dismissed in-form Dhruv Jurel and Pretorius, who was batting for the first time, for a duck,” he added.
Furthermore, another SRH debutant, Sakib Hussain, bagged 4-24 in his quota of four overs. Hussain accounted for Yashasvi Jaiswal, Donovan Ferreira, Jofra Archer, and Ravi Bishnoi.
“Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain have created an amazing story. Both SRH bowlers took four wickets, outstanding, absolutely outstanding. The way they bowled, Hyderabad’s camp needed energy, and they provided it. They have pace as well as variation. Saqib’s slower one is very lethal; it is very effective and his wrist moves brilliantly.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad will next take on Chennai Super Kings at Hyderabad on Saturday.
