India’s gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reiterated his love for Test cricket. Bumrah has performed consistently in the red-ball format and has been India’s best pacer in the last few years. The ace pacer bagged five wickets in the opening Test match against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, which India won by a huge margin of 280 runs.
Bumrah had returned with impressive figures of 4-50 in the first innings against the Tigers and had played a key role in skittling out the opposition at 149.
Bumrah has scalped 164 wickets in 37 Test matches at an impressive average of 20.52. The 30-year-old is also going to hold the key for India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.
“For me, my favourite format is the Test format. I’ve said it before as well that I wanted to play this format and I’m doing that now. Good to get some overs under the belt and build up those overs. Number of overs we bowl in Australia will be a lot more,” said Bumrah.
Meanwhile, Day 2 and 3 were completely washed out due to rain. It was disappointing that the third day was washed out as the outfield was wet despite no rain.
“Weather is something you’re not in control of. Have to quickly adjust, use your experience. You start communicating with the others as well about the pitch and the lines and lengths,” said Bumrah.
Bumrah has been ticking the right boxes in all three formats and he is currently one of the best fast bowlers in the world.
The opening Test match between India and Australia will be played at Perth from November 22 onwards.
