Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir reckons Jasprit Bumrah will be the biggest factor in the T20 World Cup for the Indian team.
Bumrah is India’s pack leader and he is going to play a crucial role in the success of the team. The fast bowler can get the ball to swing in the powerplay overs and he is also deadly accurate in the death overs with his yorkers.
Bumrah has been a consistent performer for the team and he can keep the opposition at bay with his accurate bowling. The gun fast bowler is also economical in the shortest format of the game and his ability to nail the yorkers is second to none.
There were question marks on Bumrah’s form as he went wicketless in the WTC Final against New Zealand. However, the fast bowler scalped nine wickets in the first Test match against England at Trent Bridge and then took three scalps in the second innings of the Lord’s Test.
Gautam Gambhir said while talking to Star Sports show Game Plan, “There are a lot of chances. They have got the firepower in every context. They have got the batting, they have got the spin. They have got the fast bowlers as well. When you have someone like Jasprit Bumrah, you will always have that X-factor. He has got to be the biggest factor in the T20 World Cup.”
Gambhir feels India will be favorites in the T20 World Cup if Bumrah delivers for the team.
“You will keep building about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, I am sure. But one person to look out for is Jasprit Bumrah because of his form and if he delivers, India has got to be the favorites.”
The former KKR captain predicted that England might face either New Zealand or India in the summit clash of the T20 World Cup.
“England versus India or New Zealand. Give me this much.”
The T20 World Cup will begin from October 17 as host Oman will face Papua New Guinea in the tournament’s opener.
