Former England skipper Jos Buttler has picked Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to break his world-record tally amid the Hundred 2026. Buttler recently became the highest run-getter in T20s, overtaking Kieron Pollard tally of runs.

Meanwhile, Sooryavanshi has shown the skills to go a long way in his career. The left-hander recently scored 776 runs in 16 matches at an average of 48.50 and a blistering strike rate of 237.31 while playing for Rajasthan Royals and thus he played an instrumental role in taking the franchise to the playoffs.

“Yeah it’s really cool actually to think you’ve got the most T20 runs out of everyone. Someone will surpass it one day, and his name’s probably Suryavanshi. But no, it’s a proud moment. Actually, we played against MI London in the last game, would’ve been nice to get past Polly while he was there, sat in the dugout. Some great names on there, some special players, so yeah, I’m really proud of that,” said Buttler (via Star Sports).

Earlier, Buttler said Sooryavanshi is the best player he has never seen in his career after the latter took the cricketing world by storm.

“My statement about Suryavanshi is: he’s the best player I’ve ever seen. If he’s doing that at 14, what’s he going to be doing at 16, 18, or 20? I played in the game where he got 100 in the IPL. Even as a 14-year-old at that point, playing against an attack of Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Rashid Khan—proper bowling attacks—I was in awe of these shots,” said Buttler (via Hindustan Times).

Sooryavanshi recently scored 151 runs in three matches at an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 196.10 against Zimbabwe and was awarded Player of the Series.

The youngster has been named as East Zone’s vice-captain for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, which commences on August 23.
