Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth has backed India to dominate the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. Srikkanth reckons Suryakumar Yadav’s team will reach the final, but he doesn’t want to see Australia in the summit clash.
Australia has already beaten India in the 2003 ODI World Cup final, the 2023 World Test Championship final, and the 2023 ODI World Cup final. The Aussies have been a thorn in India’s flesh, and they are known to bring their absolute best in the big matches of the major ICC tournaments.
Kris Srikkanth said on his YouTube Channel, “India is going to dominate this T20 World Cup. I don’t wish for Australia in the final. India will likely play the final but I don’t want Australia in the final.”
The former Indian captain also praised Abhishek Sharma’s aggressive approach after the left-hander smashed a 20-ball 68 against New Zealand in the third T20I. Earlier, the left-hander scored a majestic knock of 84 runs off just 35 balls in the series opener.
“The strike rate, consistency and effortlessness is brilliant. Abhishek is playing with effortless ease. He has got shots all around the wicket. Bowlers fear him. They made 209 in 15 overs in the last game, which in itself is a feat. In this match, they hit 150 in 10 overs. I haven’t seen anything like this. Gradually, teams will say we are coming for the World Cup, this is too strong a team, you can retain the cup. I would advise Pakistan to not come. The Indian team will batter you. If an Indian batter hits a ball from Colombo, it will land in Madras.”
Furthermore, Ishan Kishan scored a little cameo of 28 runs off just 13 balls. Srikkanth urged Pakistan not to come for the T20 World Cup as India would be too strong for them.
“When Ishan Kishan struck a delivery for a six, I wonder if it reached Dhaka. It was a 90-meter six and if it went further, the ball would have reached Dhaka. Pakistan, please don’t come. this team will not spare you. This has sent alarming signals to every cricketing country in the world. I have not seen such domination in cricket.”
The fifth and final T20I between India and New Zealand will be played at Thiruvanthapuram on Saturday.
