Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth criticised the team’s think tank for dropping Kuldeep Yadav in the third T20I against the West Indies. India made two changes to their playing XI in the third game of the series, bringing Prince Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy in place of Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube.
In the first two games of the series, Kuldeep returned with three wickets at an average of 28.67, but the wrist spinner conceded his runs at an economy rate of 10.75.
Srikkanth believes the team management has spoilt Kuldeep Yadav’s confidence as he is not getting consistent chances in the playing XI.
Kris Srikkanth said on his YouTube Channel, “It’s good to see Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav be developed, and both are bowling well. How long can India keep relying only on Bumrah? But they’ve spoilt Kuldeep Yadav’s confidence. Because he was smashed in the second game, he was nowhere to be found for the third match.”
Meanwhile, the 1983 World Cup-winning player said India should not have lost the second T20I against the West Indies after posting 249 runs on the board.
“There is no way India should have lost to this West Indies side after scoring 249 in the second T20I. West Indies are a terrible team. Just that, they’ve depth in batting. They’ve some power hitters, but their bowling is horrible. They are just managing with Roston Chase in the bowling department,” said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).
“Suddenly India’s middle-order looks shaky, and it’s boiling down to Abhishek Sharma having to score runs for them to win. But this West Indies bowling is abysmal. This Springer has no spring and is only a rod. Yet, India are giving wickets to such a bowler. West Indies’ pace attack is very ordinary.”
The fourth T20I between India and the West Indies will be played at Hyderabad on Wednesday.
