Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth criticised Rinku Singh for his underwhelming performances in the ongoing IPL 2026. Singh was dismissed after scoring only six runs off 12 balls against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Tuesday as KKR suffered a 32-run loss.
The left-hander has managed only 78 runs in four innings at an average of 26 and a strike rate of 120 in the ongoing IPL 2026. Thus, Singh has failed to provide the finishing touches to KKR’s innings in this season.
Kris Srikkanth said on his YouTube Channel, “Rinku Singh is not a tearaway player. He scored five sixes in the final over ages back, and people are still celebrating him because of that. He’s good for ones and twos, and if the chase is in the range of 170. There is no chance he bats at No.5.”
On the other hand, Finn Allen was also dismissed cheaply after scoring a solitary run against CSK. The New Zealand opener has scored 81 runs in five innings at an average of 16.20 in the ongoing IPL 2026 and Srikkanth said Allen just swings blindly.
“He just swings blindly. Does he think the bowlers bowling to him are halwa bowlers? Just because he made one century in the T20 World Cup doesn’t mean he swings the bat wildly like this. Tim Seifert will definitely replace him in the next match,” said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).
Allen has been dismissed inside the Powerplay overs in all five games thus far. He played across the line against Anshul Kamboj and ballooned the ball to Shivam Dube on Tuesday.
Kolkata Knight Riders will next take on Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Friday.
