Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth has questioned the selection for the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. Srikkanth reckons the RCB trio of Krunal Pandya, Rajat Patidar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar should have been picked in the squad in place of Ravi Bishnoi, Harsh Dubey, and Rinku Singh.

Srikkanth praised the selection of PBKS wicket-keeper bat Prabhsimran Singh but questioned where Rinku Singh’s selection came from. Singh scored 510 runs in 13 innings of IPL 2026 at an average of 42.50 and a strike rate of 168.87.

Kris Srikkanth said on his YouTube Channel, “Prabhsimran Singh is a good selection based on IPL performance. But the same thing should have been done for Rajat Patidar. Where did Rinku Singh come from? Patidar should have been picked instead of him. Krunal Pandya should have been picked instead of Harsh Dubey or Ravi Bishnoi. And Bhuvneshwar Kumar should have been picked instead of one of the medium-pacers. It’s hard to understand their selection policy.”

The 1983 World Cup-winning player said it is gross injustice after players like Krunal Pandya, Rajat Patidar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar didn’t get picked in the squad for the Zimbabwe tour.

“Krunal Pandya could have at least been given a chance in this Zimbabwe series. Even Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rajat Patidar should have gotten a chance in this series, especially when you are giving so many other newer players a chance. This is gross injustice. Some random guys are being given chances, yet what wrong did Patidar do to not get a chance?,” said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).

Meanwhile, Rajat Patidar scored 501 runs in 14 innings in IPL 2026 at an average of 41.75 and a strike rate of 192.69. Furthermore, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 28 scalps in 16 matches.

The first T20I between India and Zimbabwe will be played at Harare on Thursday.
