Former Indian batter Manoj Tiwary rated Ishan Kishan’s match-winning knock against Chennai Super Kings as one of the best innings of his career, as well as one of the best knocks of the ongoing IPL 2026. Chasing 181 for the win and a place in the playoffs, SRH registered a five-wicket win at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Monday.
Kishan played a key role in getting his team over the line as he scored a majestic knock of 70 runs off 47 balls. The southpaw scored seven fours and three maximums in his brilliant knock. The SRH wicket-keeper bat had failed to find his timing in the initial phase but stayed patient to turn a corner.
Tiwary praised Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan for adding 75 runs off 41, with the former contributing 47 runs off 26 balls.
“The knocks from Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen were praiseworthy, because of the composure that was seen in Kishan’s batting, there was explosiveness, there was complete control as well, he built his innings, and on a surface where it seemed like other batters were struggling, he gave a top-class performance and won the game and secured qualification for SRH. In my opinion, it can be called one of the best innings, keeping the conditions in mind,” Manoj Tiwary hailed Ishan Kishan’s display on Cricbuzz.
The former Bengal cricketer gave credit to the BCCI for giving Ishan Kishan a break when he reported mental fatigue.
“This was not a surface that we usually see in T20 cricket, and he played a calculated innings here. He ran the game, and we have to thank BCCI here because they took the decision to grant him that leave a couple of years ago after he reported mental fatigue, and asked for a break. It all ended as a blessing in disguise for him, because we are getting to see Ishan Kishan 2.0,” Manoj Tiwary said.
Sunrisers Hyderabad were able to qualify for the playoffs with this win over CSK.
