Former Indian batter Manoj Tiwary showered praise on Vaibhav Suryavanshi after Rajasthan Royals secured a seven-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur in the ongoing IPL 2026 on Tuesday.
Suryavanshi scored a magnum opus knock of 93 runs off just 38 balls with the help of seven fours and 10 sixes in the run chase of 221. The left-hander got off to a sedate start, scoring only five runs off the first 10 deliveries he faced but he was able to change gears.
The southpaw scored his runs at a blistering strike rate of 244.74 and thus was awarded Player of the Match.
Tiwary said Suryavanshi is the new poster boy of fearless cricket and compared the youngster with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar.
“He is the new poster boy of fearless cricket. Move aside, Abhishek Sharma, Priyansh Arya, now he has come forward. This is called fearless cricket. In the past, people used to leave their work to watch Sunil Gavaskar’s batting, then came Sachin Tendulkar’s time, and now it is his time. Now the talk of every child is just Suryavanshi. They leave practice and go to watch his batting. That is the kind of environment he has created. He is giving such top-class performances consistently,” he said on Cricbuzz.
Tiwary said Suryavanshi could have easily completed his century but kept going hard at the LSG bowlers and was dismissed seven runs short of a hundred.
“He didn’t even look at his score or the milestone today. If he wished, he could have just knocked around, and took 2-4 balls extra to get to his hundred. But he does not have that trait in him. That is a huge plus point, because for a player who is just 15 years old, he is looking after the best interests of the team and wants to finish the game at the same tempo,” he added.
Suryavanshi is currently the highest run getter in IPL 2026 with 539 runs in 13 matches at an average of 44.54 and a whirlwind strike rate of 236.32.
