Former Indian batter Manoj Tiwary has urged Priyansh Arya to improve his game against short-pitch deliveries after Punjab Kings registered a seven-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Saturday.
Arya was dismissed for a golden duck by Mohammed Shami when he could not deal with a bumper. Tiwary said Arya should listen to former players and PBKS’ coaching staff regarding the adjustments he needs to make in his batting.
“I think he should listen to us. If you are not working on your previous mistakes then it will keep repeating, and that signals that the player does not want to learn. There is a solution to every weakness, but how much do you want to find out that solution, and who do you approach for that, that is very important. Everyone will say it happens and all that, and before you know, it 5-6 matches are gone, and no one will go into the details,” Manoj Tiwary said on Cricbuzz.
“My advice for him would be that Ricky Ponting, or any other senior player, who have knowledge, help him identify the issue, improve his game, and guide him, because there is no lack of talent,” he added.
Meanwhile, Arya has scored 364 runs in 13 matches of IPL 2026 at an average of 28 and a blistering strike rate of 211.62.
PBKS were able chase down 197 runs after their skipper Shreyas Iyer scored a match-winning knock of 101 runs off 51 balls with the help of 11 fours and five sixes. However, to qualify for the playoffs, PBKS will need the other team’s results in their favour.
