Former England captain Michael Vaughan predicted that Cameron Green could return to Mumbai Indians in the next season of IPL 2027. Green was bought for a huge amount of INR 25.20 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders in the mini auction.
However, the all-rounder could not perform as expected. Green has scored 316 runs in 12 matches of the ongoing IPL 2026 at an average of 39.50 and a strike rate of 150.47.
Furthermore, Green has managed five wickets in eight innings at an average of 38 and an economy rate of 11.17.
Meanwhile, Green scored 452 runs in 13 matches for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023 at an average of 50.22 and a strike rate of 160.28.
Michael Vaughan said on Cricbuzz, “There will be many changes in their (MI) squad. Cameron Green has already played for them, and I won’t be surprised if he’s back with them next year.”
Vaughan said it is difficult to say who is going to play for MI against KKR on Wednesday.
“It’s impossible to predict who’s going to play. They are out so they may try anybody. It’ll be a great opportunity for anyone who plays. Though they’ve not had a great season, playing well for MI, it’s a great franchise to be part of. Of all the franchises to play for, this is one worth staying with. Particularly, the overseas players will be desperate for a performance to stay in MI.”
Meanwhile, Vaughan backed KKR to continue their winning impetus against MI. KKR registered a comprehensive 29-run win against GT in the last game and the match against MI is a must-win encounter for them.
“Finn Allen is a diamond when he comes off. Cameron Green has come along nicely after being under immense pressure at the start of the season when he wasn’t bowling. They are playing well and have something going. Once you get on a roll in T20, you usually continue that roll. So KKR will put in a good performance as they’ve something to play for,” said Vaughan (via the aforementioned source).
KKR will host MI on Wednesday.
