Mohammad Kaif backs Yashasvi Jaiswal to break Sehwag’s 300 record

Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif has backed Yashasvi Jaiswal to break former Indian opener Virender Sehwag’s triple-century record. Sehwag is the only Indian batter to score twin triple centuries in Test cricket. Karun Nair also holds the record of scoring a triple ton against England.

Meanwhile, Jaiswal scored a magnificent knock of 175 runs off 258 balls in the first innings of the second Test match against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Jaiswal has an average of more than 190 whenever he goes past the three-digit mark in Test cricket.

The left-hander scored 22 fours in his magnum opus knock. The southpaw was looking all set to get even more on the second day’s play but he was unfortunately run out after a mix-up with captain Shubman Gill.

Jaiswal has the hunger to score big centuries and he has already scored two double centuries in his 26-match Test career. 

“Yashasvi Jaiswal is a batsman with the patience to score big hundreds and set new marks. In his first 26 matches, his numbers are as good as Sachin and Virat. Scoring at a high strike rate, his hundreds mostly put India on path to victory. Sehwag ka 300 wala record, Jaiswal hi todega,” Mohammad Kaif wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Jaiswal has amassed 2420 runs in 26 Test matches at an impressive average of 52.61, including seven centuries. 

On the other hand, Indian captain Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten knock of 129 runs to help India post 518 runs in the first innings. West Indies were bowled out for 248 runs in the first essay and they have been asked to follow on by Shubaman Gill as India had 270 more runs in the bank.
