Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif praised Gujarat Titans’ bowling after they secured a convincing 82-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, in the ongoing IPL 2026 on Tuesday.
After posting a competitive score of 168 runs on the board on a tricky wicket, GT bowlers were able to bowl out Sunrisers Hyderabad for a paltry score of 86 runs, and thus climbed to the top of the standings.
Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with impressive figures of 3-28 in his quota of four overs. Furthermore, Jason Holder continued his good form, taking 3-20 in his four-over spell.
Mohammad Kaif said on his YouTube Channel, “Travis Head was moving away from the wicket outside Siraj’s line. Abhishek Sharma tried to create room, Rabada followed him and outfoxed him. Klaasen’s one wasn’t a short ball; it was a tennis ball bounce from Holder. It’s a classic Test match bowling example. It’s an example of good captaincy and strong bowling. No matter how many bowlers attempt Yorkers in IPL, they miss 90 out of 100 times.
“Gujarat has figured out that. Rabada, Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Jason Holder are bowling the same deliveries that they deliver for their countries. Hard length and discipline.”
The former UP batter hailed GT’s collective performances with the ball in eight wins they have had this year.
“GT has won eight matches, and on seven occasions, their bowlers have won Player of the Match awards. It shows they are a strong bowling team. Many franchises fail to work on the bowling unit and focus entirely on batting, chasing scores of 200-250, and higher strike rates. They would say the same old line – we fell short by 20 runs. They are taking the team in the wrong direction.”
Gujarat Titans will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Saturday.
