Gujarat Titans fast bowler Mohammed Siraj said Shubman Gill is a bowler’s captain. Gill is leading the Titans for the second time in the Indian Premier League. The Titans could not qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024 and they would be determined to turn the tables in this edition of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Siraj was brought in the IPL 2025 auction for a whopping amount of INR 12.25 crore. The fast bowler was not picked in India’s Champions Trophy squad despite the absence of gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and thus he would want to prove his mettle for GT.
On the other hand, Gill was India’s vice-captain in their recent Champions Trophy triumph.
“Shubman is a very good captain, and he is a bowler’s captain. Whatever the bowlers ask for, he provides. He gives that freedom to the bowlers. Our relationship is good, and whenever Rishabh Pant, Shubman, Axar Patel, and I are together outside, we usually roam around and have dinner together. So, our bonding is very strong. Our Test debut was also together, which makes our connection even better,” Siraj told Revsportz during an interview.
On the other hand, Siraj also opened up on working under the tutelage of head coach Ashish Nehra, who is known to get the best out of his players.
“Ashu (Ashish Nehra) bhai welcomed me. I was with Ashu bhai at RCB in 2018, and the support staff was also there. It is not like I am meeting them for the first time, but I am seeing them after a long time. It feels good. The practice is going well, and it is fun here,” he said.
Siraj’s debut with Gujarat Titans didn’t go well as he conceded 54 runs against Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Tuesday in the four overs he bowled without any wickets in his bag.
