Former Indian fast bowler Mohit Sharma has urged Sunrisers Hyderabad to back the same bowling combination after a comprehensive 57-run win against Rajasthan Royals at Hyderabad on Monday. After losing back to back matches against LSG and PBKS, SRH returned to winning ways against RR.
SRH posted a par score of 216 runs on the board and then bowled out the inaugural champions for 159. SRH’s debutant Praful Hinge blew away the RR’s top order. Hinge dismissed in-form Vaibhav Suryavanshi for a golden duck. One ball later, another in-form batter Dhruv Jurel, chopped the ball back onto his stumps. On the final delivery of his game, the 24-year-old pacer from Vidarbha also accounted for Lhuan-dre Pretorius.
Thus, Hinge became the first bowler in IPL history to take three wickets in the first over of an IPL innings. Hinge returned with impressive figures of 4-34, whereas another SRH debutant, Sakib Hussain, bagged 4-24 in his quota of four overs. Hussain accounted for Yashasvi Jaiswal, Donovan Ferreira, Jofra Archer, and Ravi Bishnoi.
“If you expect to play the entire tournament with just three players, then that is impractical. But there is no need to worry for RR as such, these things will take you forward, and not behind. For SRH, it was broken, and you have applied Fevi-Kwik, what is the need to break it again? It seems like a proper combination now, you have six bowlers who are giving you a complete package,” Mohit Sharma said on Cricbuzz.
“SRH have won against a team that had won four back-to-back games. The pressure was more on SRH than RR to win, so they have now won, and may not want to make any changes,” he said.
On the other hand, SRH captain Ishan Kishan also gave credit to his bowlers for their brilliant performance against RR on a flat deck.
“Very happy with this win, 2 more points on the board! The bowlers executed their plans, full credit to them. You have to look at how hungry and motivated they were to play and do well. Varun Aaron and the coaches were upbeat about them, and they delivered, big time,” Ishan Kishan said during the post-match presentation.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will next take on Chennai Super Kings at Hyderabad on Saturday.
