India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel has hailed Team India’s batters’ form ahead of the T20 World Cup. Abhishek Sharma has been in stunning form for Men in Blue and one of the biggest positives is the return to form for captain Suryakumar Yadav.
The likes of Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Ishan Kishan and Shivam Dube have also performed consistently for the team in the shortest format. Morkel said he doesn’t want to reveal the secret behind the team’s successful batting.
India posted 238 runs on the board in the opening T20I against the Kiwis and chased down 209 and 154 in 15.2 and 10 overs respectively in the second and third game.
Morne Morkel said in the pre-match press conference, “We don’t want to reveal those secrets out today.”
“It’s great to see them getting confident, building that confidence before the World Cup. They have put in a lot of hard work, a lot of effort. They have hit thousands of balls to find a way that is working and to get the team off to a great start, which is good for us. In terms of giving those tactics away, I don’t think it’s a smart deal for us.”
The former South African pacer also opened up on the fact that Hardik Pandya hasn’t got a lot of time to bat in the middle in the first three games.
He concluded, “Unfortunately so far, with the way we have been batting, he’s lacked that time in the middle. But, after at the last match, he went down to the nets and practiced for hours. So, that is great to see. He’s really focused on putting in a great performance for the team. Everything that he has done so far has been very professional. Just to have his experience in the change room is a massive bonus for us.”
The fourth T20I between India and New Zealand will be played at Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
