Former Indian spinner Murali Kartik has opined Mohammed Siraj would be disappointed with his performance against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Wednesday. GT were in front as DC needed 36 runs off the final two overs but Siraj was taken for 23 runs in the penultimate over by David Miller and Vipraj Nigam.
Siraj was taken for two fours and as many sixes in the second last over. The experienced pacer returned with expensive figures of 1-52 in his quota of four overs.
“He bowled a really bad over. Actually, if Siraj looks at himself for the high standards that he has set, he will be upset with the choice of deliveries. He will be upset thinking what he has done. Siraj must be thinking he can do this, or he can do that, but sometimes the execution goes wrong,” Murali Kartik said on Cricbuzz.
On the other hand, former Indian fast bowler Mohit Sharma questioned Shubman Gill’s captaincy after GT’s one-run win against DC. Gill gave the final Powerplay over to Ashok Sharma, who was hit for 23 runs by Pathum Nissanka.
“This is his first season, and if you give him his comfort overs, then that is the better option. The sixth over is quite a high pressure over. You could have given him the fifth over and then given Rashid the sixth over. All the teams are looking to gain momentum in the sixth over. You could have delayed giving the ball to Ashok there,” Mohit Sharma said.
Meanwhile, GT were able to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat as DC needed two runs off the final two balls. David Miller decided not to take a single off the penultimate ball whereas Kuldeep Yadav was run out on the final ball.
Gujarat Titans will next take on Lucknow Super Giants at Lucknow on Sunday.
