India’s rising fast bowler Mayank Yadav has revealed that his recovery program went well and he is now back to full fitness. Yadav, who caught eyeballs with his express pace during IPL 2024 while playing for Lucknow Super Giants, suffered an abdominal injury, which ruled him out of the tournament.
After suffering the injury, Yadav was recovering at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The gun fast bowler from Delhi picked seven wickets in four matches of IPL 2024 at an impressive economy rate of 6.98. Yadav bagged three wickets apiece in his first two matches and bagged the Player of the Match award in both games.
After his impressive performance in the IPL, Yadav was also included in BCCI’s pace bowling contract list.
“My recovery program went very well and I feel much better now. I feel much fitter as well. Yes, I’ll have to spend some more time here, but the good thing is, I’ve been bowling with the full run-up and a lot of intensity over the past few days. I’m happy with my progress so far,” Mayank Yadav told Telegraph India.
Meanwhile, a BCCI official said that Yadav should not be rushed into the Indian team and he should be groomed at the domestic level to get the best out of him.
“A young fast bowler like Mayank needs to be given the necessary amount of time to first cope with the needs of the different formats. So, he’s still being closely monitored. If he’s rushed into the Indian team, it’s a risk as that could lead to a breakdown,” a BCCI official told Telegraph India.
Yadav also clocked 156.7 kmph in IPL 2024, which was the fastest ball in the season. The right-arm pacer, who is only 22, has the skills to savor success at the top level as he is not only brisk but also accurate with his line and length.
