Experienced leg-spinner Piyush Chawla has said his relationship with Virat Kohli is the same as it was 10-15 years back. Chawla, who plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, said he can have the same discussion with Virat Kohli as he used to have a decade ago.
Kohli is known for his jovial nature and likes to have fun conversations with his teammates. Furthermore, Kohli and Chawla played a lot of junior cricket together when they were rising through the ranks.
Speaking on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Piyush Chawla said, “We played junior cricket together. Even today, me and Kohli meet in the same that we did before. If I have to chat about something with Virat, things are the same as it was before. Everyone has their own perception. My relationship with Virat is the same as it was 10-15 years back.”
Meanwhile, Chawla also has the experience of bowling against Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The veteran spinner added that the talismanic duo have their own class.
“I have got both of them out a few times and have been battered by them as well. There is no comparison. Both have their own class. Virat will take singles on good balls and produce the big hits in between. Rohit also hits the bad balls, but also looks to target the good balls in between and that gives (bowlers) a chance. Both have their own class and their own way of batting,” Chawla commented.
Chawla is the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL history after Yuzvendra Chahal with 192 scalps in as many matches.
Meanwhile, Kohli and Rohit will return to action in the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The opening Test match will be played in Chennai from September 19.
