Former Indian opener Navjot Singh Sidhu believes Rishabh Pant is getting himself out more often than opposition bowlers in the ongoing IPL 2026. The LSG skipper was hit on his elbow by RCB’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood and he was seen wincing in a lot of pain on Wednesday. Pant had to retire hurt after scoring a solitary run after three balls.
After receiving medical treatment, Pant returned to the field but was dismissed after facing three more deliveries and without adding anything to run-tally. Mukul Choudhary then took the gloves in place of Pant in RCB’s batting innings.
Pant has scored 106 runs in five matches of IPL 2026 at an average of 26 and a strike rate of 122.35.
“I don’t think bowlers are getting Rishabh out; more often, he is getting himself out. He has the talent and ability, and if he gives himself time, he can turn it around. At the moment, both, their batting and bowling, seem to be struggling,” said Sidhu on Star Sports.
Sidhu further added that LSG’s batters need to do some soul-searching to get out of the poor form they find themselves in.
“There is a lot of soul searching that needs to be done. Their problems have persisted, especially with the top order not firing. They have been heavily dependent on their top three, but the returns haven’t come. When you look at players like Markram, Pooran, Marsh and Rishabh Pant, there is immense potential, but the partnerships are missing. Even a 50-run stand at the top has been rare,” he said.
LSG was bowled out for 146 by RCB and they definitely need to turn the tables with the bat.
Lucknow Super Giants will next take on Punjab Kings at New Chandigarh on Sunday.
