Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy said he is trying to manage his workload as he has to do more work as an all-rounder amid the T20I series against New Zealand. Reddy played a crucial cameo of 13-ball 26 in the second game against the Kiwis at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Saturday. He added 69 runs off 30 balls with Tilak Varma to get India over the line when the visitors were in trouble.
Furthermore, he returned with figures of 1-31 in three overs he bowled. Thus, he played an instrumental role in India’s four-wicket win.
Nitish Kumar Reddy said in the post-match press conference, “It’s just part and parcel of the game. I am an all-rounder, so I have to do both batting and bowling. Even in practice sessions, I have to do my workloads. I have more work to do than anyone on the field and off the field. It’s just something I am working on. Nobody likes to get injured.
“I am happy that I am playing for the Indian team. I am taking in one day at a time. If I turn up and play a game the next day for my team, that would be a great sign, no matter where I play. I hope I don’t get injured, but I am still in the process,” the 23-year-old went on to add.
Reddy admitted he is bowling in different match situations and he is trying to gain experience.
He concluded, “I am bowling in different situations. It’s just about experience. It’s just about bowling more and getting more experience. When the right time comes, I am able to deliver. That’s what is happening now.”
Reddy has scalped 11 wickets in as many T20Is for India. The third T20I between India and New Zealand will be played at Hnry Stadium, Wellington on Tuesday.
