India’s all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the two-match T20I series against Ireland due to a quadriceps injury. The all-rounder rehab is expected to take two-three weeks.
Reddy was recently part of the three-match ODI series against Afghnistan. After playing the opening ODI at Dharamshala, Reddy was ruled out of the second ODI due to a quad problem but returned to the playing XI for the final game at Chennai.
He bowled six wicketless overs and did not get a chance to bat against the visitors in the last ODI as India registered a comprehensive nine-wicket win. Reddy has been troubled with injury issues in the last one year and was ruled out midway through India’s Test tour of England due to a knee injury.
Reddy was picked as Hardik Pandya’s replacement for the Ireland tour but the latter will continue to miss the action due to fitness woes.
Reddy is expected to report to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, where further assessments will determine the extent of the injury and provide clarity on his recovery timeline.
India will play two T20Is against Ireland, followed by five T20Is against England.
