India’s former skipper MS Dhoni is regarded as one of the best finishers of the game. We have seen that Dhoni has finished off a game in style on many occasions.
In fact, the right-hander has taken the team over the line when they had their backs against the wall. Dhoni’s ability to stay ahead in the game, calculate which bowlers to attack, when to catapult his attack is second to none.
The right-hander is well known to take the game deep and he is one of the shrewdest players when it comes to finishing the game. On the other hand, Australia’s quick Pat Cummins is currently one of the best bowlers in the world. Cummins has the pace under his belt and he is mostly right on the money with his line and length.
When Cummins was asked by a fan which ball will he bowl to MS Dhoni with six needed off one ball, the Australian stated that he won’t try to bowl a yorker and instead will look to bowl a bouncer or a slower delivery to the talismanic batsman.
“I think I have seen like a million videos of Dhoni hitting sixes off bowlers who missed yorkers. So I wouldn’t bowl a yorker, maybe a bouncer or slower ball or a wide yorker. I prefer not to be in that position,” Pat Cummins said.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni’s power-hitting abilities have been on the wane in the last couple of years. Dhoni had retired from International cricket back in August 2020 and the lack of game time has led to his dip in batting form.
The right-hander could only muster 37 runs in the four innings of IPL 2021 for Chennai Super Kings and was not at his best with the bat for the franchise. On the other hand, Pat Cummins scalped nine wickets in seven matches for Kolkata Knight Riders before the tournament was indefinitely postponed by the BCCI.
