India’s lanky fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out for three to four weeks due to a hamstring injury, a TOI report has claimed. Krishna is also doubtful for the ODI series against New Zealand.
The fast bowler from Karnataka was ruled out of the third ODI against the West Indies due to the same injury. He was later replaced by Anshul Kamboj in the squad, who went on to make his ODI debut at New Chandigarh.
In the two ODIs against the Windies, Krishna scalped three wickets at an average of 35. Krishna could only bowl five overs in the second game of the series and conceded 45 runs before walking off the field after the completion of the 31st over.
“It is learnt that Prasidh has checked into the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in his hometown Bengaluru. He is expected to regain full fitness in around three weeks and could start bowling at full intensity in four weeks,” a report by Times of India read.
The report claimed that Krishna could be in a race against time to be fit for New Zealand ODIs.
“His recovery timeline could make his availability for the New Zealand series a tricky proposition. Even if he returns to bowling by then, there is no guarantee that he will be ready to play from the start of the series. India could also be forced to manage their fast bowlers carefully, with Test-bound players expected to miss the last two ODIs against New Zealand,” the report states.
India has been troubled by injury woes in the recent past. Hardik Pandya and Harshit Rana are also recovering from respective injuries and thus Shubman Gill hasn’t been able to play a first-choice playing XI.
